Accreditation and patient safety

According to popular research, application of accreditation standards significantly contributes to the improvement of patient safety and reduction of medical errors by raising the standard of quality.
There is no limit to the level of quality one can achieve.  We can, however, constantly strive to enhance quality and limit error.  Unlike the aviation industry, where fewer than one in one million passengers may be effected by aviation error, in the healthcare industry, one in ten hospital inpatients may be effected by medical error.
